Volunteer Opportunities

Lunch Buddy program

The Lunch Buddy Program is an excellent opportunity for adults from all walks of life to make a difference in the life of a child. The Lunch Buddy program works to match positive, consistent adult mentors to elementary aged youth in Grain Valley Schools to improve student peer relationships and strengthen positive connections to school.

A Lunch Buddy is someone to eat with, someone to talk to, someone to listen to, and someone a child can depend on to be there for them. A Lunch Buddy volunteer will meet with the child during the student’s lunch hour once every two weeks to help a child gain better relationships with their peers and feel better about their school community.

Book Buddy program

If you would like to make a difference in the life a student, please consider becoming a Book Buddy.  Sni-A-Bar Elementary will pair a volunteer with a student that is struggling with reading.  The Book Buddy program helps students improve their literacy skills by giving them the opportunity to read aloud to an adult. The volunteer will meet with the child once a week during the student’s school day.
