June and July Summer School Options

Virtual Summer School Program in June

In June, the district will offer a Virtual Summer School program through a partner provider called Fueled by Launch. Children participating in Virtual Summer School will be guided by a teacher online. While the program requires some adult monitoring, it will not require the level of direct parental involvement that was needed during the last two months of flexible learning provided from the district. Launch courses are designed and exclusively used for online learning. All courses are aligned with Missouri Learning Standards and designed for new learning material.

Enrollment for the June session will be open May 11 through May 21. Virtual courses will begin June 3 and end June 30. There will not be any seated or in person options for traditional summer school during the month of June. We are preparing for an in person July summer school session if larger gathering sizes are permitted at that time. More information will be shared at the earliest possible time.

Links to enrollment information and course descriptions and options for the June (virtual only) session are as follows:

Entering 1st grade through 5th grade:

National Park Adventure - a video course overview can be found here.

This engaging month-long course invites students entering grades 1–5 to lace up their (virtual) hiking boots and head out to explore four of America’s most-popular national parks. Visits to Yellowstone, the Everglades, the Grand Canyon and Hawaii Volcanoes are in store, and virtual field trips, engaging readings, hands-on projects and riveting research will ensue. The action-packed content is designed to allow students to work their way through targeted, grade-level science, social studies, math and reading instruction as well as fine arts and physical education activities.

Transportation to and from Summer SOAR is the responsibility of the parent. District transportation services are not available. Please be on time when dropping off and picking children from Summer SOAR. Students will be dropped off and picked up in the front of the building. When picking up students, parents will be directed to a numbered cone.

Please ensure your child is at school on time each day. We have a fun and engaging program planned for them and want each child to begin their day on time. During the first two days of school students (1st-5th) will meet in the gym to find their class. Kindergarten students will meet in their classrooms.

Your child will eat lunch in the school cafeteria. They may either purchase a hot lunch from the cafeteria or bring a cold lunch from home. Hot lunch is $2.30. If your child brings a cold lunch, they may purchase milk or juice from the cafeteria for .50 cents. You may send in lunch money to put in your child’s account or you may send money daily. Students who qualify for free or reduced meals may receive that service during summer school.

Breakfast will be served daily in the commons area. Breakfast is $1.70. Students qualifying for free or reduced lunches also qualify for breakfast. If your student is already enrolled, they are enrolled for Summer SOAR. Incoming siblings or new students will need to be added. Lunch and Breakfast menus will be available on the district site and sent home the first day of Summer SOAR.

All school and district policies from the regular school year apply to Summer SOAR.

The staff and I are looking forward to a summer of fun and learning! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call or email.
