High School Summer School Courses

Session 1: June 7-June 18, 8:00-2:30
Session 2: June 21-July 2, 8:00-2:30

The 2021 Summer School program will begin on Monday, June 7. This year’s summer school program will be located at Grain Valley SOUTH MIDDLE SCHOOL. Class will begin at 8:00 am each day, and doors will be open at 7:45 for students to eat breakfast if they choose to do so. Lunch will also be available, or students can bring their own lunch. All school meals will remain free for all families during Summer SOAR 2021. Please be aware that extra items such as drinks, snacks and extra entries will be available for purchase. Off-campus lunch and ordering for delivery will not be permitted. Students will be dismissed at 2:30. The district is unable to provide transportation to or from school, and is also unable to provide transportation for A+ tutors. All school policies apply to the summer school program as well, and failure to adhere to these policies may result in removal from the program.

It is important to note that attendance each day is critical for earning credit. Due to the accelerated nature of summer school (students take one course for 10 days, 8:00-2:30 daily), students must have perfect attendance. The LAUNCH program classes do not require any in-person attendance. (To enroll in the LAUNCH program please scroll to the bottom of this page.)

For students wishing to participate in the A+ program, please be sure to coordinate your tutoring with Mr. Beyers.

COVID-19 Protocols

The Grain Valley School District will continue to make COVID-19 testing available for students exhibiting one or more symptoms of the virus. This testing is conducted by the Grain Valley Health Services staff and is minimally invasive. Currently, testing is not available for asymptomatic cases.

Contact tracing and quarantine procedures for COVID-19 will be in effect for SOAR just like during the regular school year, but subject to change based on any new guidance from the Jackson County Health Department. If your child is sick or showing symptoms of COVID-19, please plan to keep them home from SOAR. If it is determined that your child was a close contact (exposure) to a positive case, school officials will notify you as soon as possible with instructions for quarantine and return to school protocols.

Because SOAR is a unique curriculum and varies by grade and class, students in quarantine will not have access to virtual learning (virtual instruction during quarantine will not be provided).

Transportation to and from Summer SOAR is the responsibility of the parent. District transportation services are not available. Parent Drop-off/pick-up will be at the main entrance.
*We will offer transportation to and from the High School for those taking part in Summer Weights and Sports Camps.
