ParentSquare at Grain Valley Schools 

Grain Valley Schools utilizes ParentSquare as the district’s primary communication platform. ParentSquare provides a secure and convenient way for families to receive updates, announcements, and reminders from their teachers, school, or the district, all in one place.

ParentSquare provides our families with convenient, timely communication and can be used on any device. The free mobile app is available to download in both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. ParentSquare can also be accessed on your desktop or laptop computer.

ParentSquare is a unified tool that combines building, district, and sports & activity communication through one unified platform. Some features the platform includes are:

Receiving School and District Alerts via Text from ParentSquare

We will send text messages to families and team members in the event of school cancellations, safety alerts, or other important notifications. Parents or guardians whose cell phone number is correct in PowerSchool will be alerted through ParentSquare. Please go to your notification settings in the ParentSquare App or the desktop version and turn Text to Instant.

Text STOP to 66458 to stop receiving text alerts from ParentSquare.

Notification Customization 

ParentSquare has two different options for notification customization, and allows families to select their perferred delivery method fo reach school and district. Users can either select instant notifications or daily digest settings. Instant notifications will deliver all post notifications in real time, while selecting “Daily Digest” settings will send posts at the end of the day, usually around 6:00 p.m. 

Note: regardless of your notification settings, you will receive smart alerts, urgent alerts, and direct messages instantly.

ParentSquare Notification Types

  • Posts will be the most common type of message you will see from ParentSquare. Posts are similar to a something you would see on social media, and is delivered to a specific school, group, or class. Posts are typically used for general annoucements, updates, and sharing information, photos, or polls, and offers a unique appointment feature, allowing families to schedule things such as parent teacher conferences through ParentSquare. 

    Examples of posts you may see: 

    • District and school newsletters 
    • Event invitations
    • Reminders 

  • Smart Alerts are used as one-way, high-priority announcements sent by your student’s school or the district, and stand out from regular posts so families do not miss important updates. 

    These allow for short reminders to be shared through email, text message, phone call, and app notification. 

  • Urgent alerts are high-priority messages that provide quick district-wide messages. Urgent alerts provide translation options, and are a quick and effective communication tool to keep our parents and families informed.
