Welcome back – we’re so glad you are here! 

As we approach the start of the 2026-2027 school year, the Back to School Guide is designed to support our students, families, and staff by providing key information in one centralized location. Enrollment and Registration will be open from July 13-August 13th. The first day of school is August 25, 2026.

Enrollment & Registration Information

Back to School Important Dates 

  • Online Enrollment & Registration Open: July 13 – August 13  
  • High School Junior Check-In: August 10 (Time TBD) 
  • High School Senior Check-In: August 11 (Times TBD) 
  • High School Sophomore Check-In: August 12 (Times TBD) 
  • Middle School Meet the Teacher Night: August 19 from 4:30-6:30 pm
  • Pre-K – 5th Grade Meet the Teacher: August 20
  • Kindergarten Parent Meeting: August 20 (Time varies by building) 
  • Freshman Orientation: August 20 from 1:00 -5:00 pm
  • High School Meet the Teacher Night: August 20 from 6:00-7:00 pm 
  • 6th Grade Transition Day: August 20 from 7:45-11:00 am
  • First Day of School: August 25
  • Early Childhood Center First Day of School: August 26

School Supplies 

School supplies lists are now available!

Kindergarten families: All school supplies are donated by Valley Community Church. Students will be required to bring their own backpacks (no wheels) and a pair of over-the-ear headphones (no earbuds or wireless/bluetooth). If any of these items may cause your family hardship, please contact your student’s school for assistance. 

High School families: Students will receive their supply lists from teachers the first two days of school.

Athletics and Activities

  • The Valley Kids Before and After School Program is offered at each elementary school building for students in kindergarten through 5th grade. The program is year-round from 6:30 am-6:00 pm with some breaks during the year. Scheduled non-school days and snow days during the school year are held at Sni-A-Bar Elementary, located at 701 SW Eagles Parkway.

    Valley Kids is designed to provide students with social, creative, recreational, and life skill development. We provide breakfast, an afternoon snack, and homework/reading time.

  • Grain Valley Schools utilizes ParentSquare as the district’s primary communication platform. Parent Square provides a secure and convenient way for families to receive updates, announcements, and reminders from their teachers, school, or the district, all in one place.

    ParentSquare provides our families with convenient, timely communication and can be used on any device. The free mobile app is available to download in both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. ParentSquare can also be accessed on your desktop or laptop computer.

    ParentSquare is a unified tool that combines building, district, and sports & activity communication through one unified platform. Some features the platform includes are:
