Back to School Guide

Our Back to School Guide is now live! This webpage is designed as a hub that will direct families to the information related to the new school year.

Families can access the Back to School Guide to find information related to registration, important back-to-school dates, transportation, food services, athletics and activities, and more.

Reminder: Enrollment and Registration

Enrollment & Registration for the 2026-2027 School Year
The 2026-2027 School year is right around the corner! In preparation for the new school year ahead, all students, new and returning, will need to complete the necessary steps to enroll or register.

Returning Grain Valley Students

Families returning to Grain Valley Schools should verify registration through their PowerSchool parent portal beginning July 13th.

Families must provide proof of residency at the start of each new school year. Registering your returning student is also a chance to confirm that all emergency contact information is correct. Each child will need to be registered. There will be no in-person registration event.

If you need assistance registering your student, please contact your child's school beginning July 27th. If you need immediate assistance, please contact the leadership center at 816-847-5006.

New Grain Valley Students

Students who are new to Grain Valley Schools, including Kindergarteners who did not participate in Kindergarten Enrollment, will need to complete the new student enrollment process. The new student enrollment process is currently open. To begin the process, families will need to start a new enrollment by creating a PowerSchool account. More information about this process, including steps to enroll and information needed to enroll, can be found on the district's Enrolling a New Student website.

Kindergarten families who have already completed enrollment earlier this spring do not need to complete this process again. However, families will receive an email asking them to verify that all information is still accurate from the spring. Please take time to review and update for accuracy.

Empower Our Newest Teachers from Day One!

A great teacher transforms a child's future. As Director of the Grain Valley Education Foundation, I see every day how deeply committed our educators are. Today, I invite you to join us in extending a warm welcome to our incoming class of teachers.

This fall, roughly 15 new educators will join the Grain Valley family. They arrive with energy and passion, but before stepping into the classroom, most will spend their own personal funds on crucial supplies, decor, and books to build an inspiring learning environment.

We want to make sure they know our community stands behind them.

Our goal is to raise $1,500 to equip every new teacher with a $100 gift card to cover these initial costs. A $100 boost does more than buy supplies—it proves that Grain Valley values and invests in their commitment.

Whether you contribute $25, $50, or $100, your gift directly supports a teacher starting their journey with us.

How to Give

Questions? Contact Jerry Vaughan at 816-847-5006 x1015.

Together, let's ensure our newest educators feel championed, appreciated, and fully prepared to inspire our students. Thank you for investing in Grain Valley's future!

With gratitude,
Jerry Vaughan, Director
Grain Valley Education Foundation
